More than 100 food and beverage companies across the UK are set to launch a number of initiatives under the Food and Drink Federation’s (FDF) ‘Every Last Drop’ campaign.

Nestlé UK will start a nationwide employee engagement programme to spread awareness within the organisation about the importance of water conservation practices at work place and home.

Coca-Cola Great Britain and Coca-Cola Enterprises will enter into a three year partnership with WWF-UK to preserve and protect English rivers.

Foodservice wholesaler distributor 3663m, Nestlé Professional and contract catering company Elior have joined hands to collaborate and share best practices to cut down on water usage across the food supply vertical.

FDF water group chair and Nestlé UK safety, health and environmental sustainability head Inder Poonaji said that Every Last Drop campaign is a simple, yet incredibly powerful tool to help food and drink businesses actively engage with water efficiency.

"It is great to see so many companies showing leadership and getting active on effective water management. It is vital that we all remember that all of us, whether at home or in the work place, share a responsibility to use water efficiently and with consideration for the needs of others with whom we share this planet," Poonaji said.

The ‘Every Last Drop’ campaign intends to spread awareness in the food and drink industry about how exploitation of the natural resource could hinder the longer term sustainability of the sector.

The programme will also guide practical and convenient measures to make the industry more water efficient.

FDF’s Water Working Group will supply Every Last Drop informative booklets on simple methods to conserve water across the industry.
