US-based Kentucky Peerless Distilling has launched its first bourbon in 102 years across various states, including New York, Florida, Texas and California, as well as Illinois, Georgia and Kentucky.

Peerless claims that the bourbon variant offers citrus, cedar and honeysuckle, as well as a balance of spicy oak on the nose and notes of caramel and toasted oak on the palate. Its finish showcases both sweet and spicy notes as citrus and florals duel against dry cocoa and spicy oak.

Kentucky Peerless Distilling global marketing & strategy director Cordell Lawrence said: “There’s a saying around Peerless, ‘patience builds character’.

“Peerless is a legacy reborn and our mission is to produce bourbon worthy of the historic name. We are American-made down to our very bottle, never source and embrace the artisanal history of bourbon using cutting edge technology.”

The variant is a 107-proof drink, which has been produced using sweet mash instead of sour.

According to the company, more than 100 years have passed since the sale of Peerless Bourbon. The four-year-old product is the first bourbon to be available without a prescription since Prohibition.

Peerless Bourbon has been distributed across select markets in the US for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $69.99.

By next year, the company intends to make the product available across more than 45 states in the US.

Last October, Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company released 15 barrels of new Peerless Dimensions whiskey variants.

Hand-selected by head distiller Caleb Kilburn, the products utilised a wide range of ageing processes to provide distinct flavour profiles.

The company produced approximately 216 hand-labelled bottles from each barrel. The products will be available for purchase by the case for liquor stores and bars, as well as retailers annually.
