Diageo’s brand Guinness has expanded its portfolio by releasing Guinness Nitro Cold Brew Coffee beer in the US market.

With a distinct rich coffee aroma, the newly launched dark beer offers a balanced bitter and sweet taste with a roast coffee flavour.

With 4% alcohol by volume (ABV), the new addition is brewed using cold brew coffee extract and coffee flavours, resulting in a smooth and creamy palate with hints of espresso, chocolate and caramel.

Guinness brand director Nikhil Shah said: “Nitro Cold Brew Coffee beer is a welcome addition to the Guinness family and the response so far has been incredible.

“Now that it’s officially iced coffee season, we’re excited to give consumers a coffee-forward beer to enjoy during their spring and summertime occasions.”

Guinness said that a widget infuses nitrogen into the beer upon opening the can and re-creates the signature surge and settle effect that the consumers get from a Guinness Draught on tap or in a can.

Guinness Nitro Cold Brew Coffee beer is a permanent addition to the Guinness portfolio.

Each pack contains four 14.9 fl oz cans and is available for a suggested retail price of $9.99.

The company plans to expand the footprint of the new variant to other countries over the next 12 to 18 months.

Guinness expanded its beer portfolio with the launch of its alcohol-free variant, Guinness 0.0, in October 2020.

The new non-alcoholic beer version of Guinness, created by the brewers at St James’s Gate in Dublin, Ireland, the home of Guinness, was a four-year development process.
