The value marked an increase of 425.4% over the previous quarter and a rise of 269.7% when compared with the last four-quarter average, which stood at $2.09bn.

Comparing deals value in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position, with total announced deals in the period worth $7.3bn. At the country level, Australia topped the list in terms of deal value at $6.58bn.

In terms of volumes, North America emerged as the top region for drinks industry M&A deals globally, followed by Asia-Pacific and then Europe.

The top country in terms of M&A deals activity in Q4 2020 was the US with 16 deals, followed by China with eight and France with three.

In 2020, as of the end of Q4 2020, drinks M&A deals worth $15.35bn were announced globally, marking a decrease of 2.2% year on year.
