Revel Systems, a California-based developer of iPad Point of Sale (POS) solutions, has customised its iPad POS platform to meet the needs of wineries across the globe.

The updated product will allow wineries to use POS platform and analytics without getting deprived of any necessities that could be vital to businesses in the wine industry.

The iPad POS enables wineries to conduct wine tastings and helps in the back-end performance for the shipping compliant side of the business.

Additionally, the iPad POS platform is integrated with ShipCompliant, a web application that maintains updated database of direct shipping rules to allow real-time compliance checks and auto-populated state shipping and tax reports.

The integrated solution provides wineries with clear information about customer’s shipping address and their shipping laws, making them aware of locations where they may or may not send their shipments.

Revel Systems co-founder and chief technology officer Chris Ciabarra said the iPad POS is now robust enough to handle the complex operations at a winery including inventory and crucial legal shipping requirements that vary by region.

"Revel’s engineers worked to create an iPad POS platform for wineries that’s both efficient and state shipping law compliant. Combined, Napa and Sonoma have over 700 wineries. As an iPad POS platform, we see this as a huge opportunity to make an impact on the viticulture industry," Ciabarra added.

Revel has already rolled out 20 iPads throughout California including Napa Valley’s HALL Wines, which offers limited production wines made from grapes sourced from single vineyard.

HALL and WALT Wines membership director Jeff Zappelli said in an effort to meet their needs, Revel Systems has integrated the appropriate specifications into its point-of-sale solution, giving them a better tool to enhance the experience while also running their winery successfully.
