Amazon Australia has forayed into online alcohol market with the launch of a wine, beer and spirits store on its online platform.

The store features emerging local brands including SOFI Spritz, Curatif Cocktails, and Lawrenny Estate, alongside major brands such as Penfolds, VB, and Johnnie Walker.

Amazon Australia country manager Matt Furlong said: “We’re excited to bring customers our new Wine, Beer and Spirits store, featuring a range of much loved local and international brands.

“Customers will be able to experience the convenience of ordering their favourite wine, beer or spirits alongside all the other products available on Amazon.com.au from household essentials, fashion and beauty, through to video games and books.”

The company noted that it will help local brands to launch on the platform and offer them access to customers, marketing tools and logistics expertise.

Meanwhile, to ensure alcohol purchases are made and delivered appropriately, Amazon Australia has taken multiple precautions.

This includes an age verified delivery process in which customers will be required to provide their date of birth at checkout when paying for items listed in the wine, beer and spirits store.

People who are under the age of 18 will not eligible to purchase alcohol.

Commenting on the new development, Curatif Cocktailsco-founder Matt Sanger said: “Curatif is thrilled to be in the first wave of Australian liquor companies to launch on Amazon Australia.”

Curatif Cocktails has released its latest ready-to-serve creation, the Curatif Plantation Rum Pineapple Daiquiri, exclusively on AmazonAustralia.
