US-based Zipz is all set to launch its Z Selections wines in a newly developed single-serve glass package that looks and feels like traditional glassware.

Z Selections is a collection of California wines, including Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals.

The company further plans to add other wines to the collection in coming months.

Made from food-grade polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic, each Zipz glass is covered in a patented Zipz Clean Wrap that keeps the wine and glass clean from handling, making it suitable for use in public places, including stadiums, arenas, convention centres and hotels, and in the absence of any standard glassware.

To consume the wine, one must first unzip the Zipz Clean Wrap, then remove and snap the lid on the bottom and peel the lift ‘n’ peel seal.

Zipz president Pat Scire said the Zipz collection meets the industry need for single-serve wine to be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors.

"Response from both consumers and the hospitality industry has been overwhelming, and we look forward to bringing this exciting innovation to wine lovers everywhere," Scire added.

Z Selections will be available in 187ml single-serve Zipz glass format at company website www.zipzwine.com in summer 2013 and at select locations throughout the nation in April 2013.

The wines will be sold at a suggested retail price of $13.99 for a four-pack, or $3.99 per glass.

Zipz has also partnered with Fetzer Vineyards to offer its Fetzer Crimson Red Blend and Quartz White Blend wines in the Zipz glass.

These wines will be available from 1 April 2013 at select Major League Baseball stadiums, including AT&T Park (California), Coors Field (Colorado), Turner Field (Georgia), Citi Field (New York), Kauffman Stadium (Missouri), Safeco Field (Washington), and Tropicana Field (Florida), through Aramark and Centerplate.
