US-based crafted spirits producer Splinter Group Spirits  has launched Whip Saw Rye Whiskey in the US.

Crafted from a blend of nearly seven-year-old whiskeys and finished in French oak wine barrels, Whip Saw Rye is a smooth whiskey with a rich vanilla flavour.

The mash bill used for making the product includes 77% rye, 21% corn, 2% malted barley.

The whisky has been blended by master winemakers and whisky aficionados Steven Matthiasson and Bob Cabral.

In addition to releasing Whip Saw Rye Whiskey, Splinter Group Spirits has appointed Dan Burke as its national craft spirits manager.

“The chance to work with winemakers I’ve admired for years on these incredible spirits is a dream come true.”

Burke said: “The chance to work with winemakers I’ve admired for years on these incredible spirits is a dream come true. I can’t wait to spread the word.”

Whip Saw Rye Whiskey will be available across the US market in 750ml bottles and can be purchased for $55.

Based in Napa Valley, California, Splinter Group Spirits is the result of a partnership between Vintage Wine Estates and the Wilkinson Family.

In addition to Whip Saw Rye, the other brands in the brand’s portfolio include Straight Edge Bourbon, Slaughter House American Whiskey and Partner Vermouth.

Rye whisky had the largest volume increase for any spirit category in the past six years according to the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.
