Danish beverage provider Royal Unibrew has completed an acquisition of French lemonade business Etablissements Geyer Fréres for kr600m ($103m).

Etablissements Geyer Fréres provides organic products through brands LORINA craft lemonade, PureThé and InFreshhh. It exports products to approximately 40 countries worldwide.

The acquisition is said to have been financed through a bank debt.

With 100 employees, Etablissements Geyer Fréres operates production facilities in Munster, France. It has a presence in retail channels of the US and France.

“The acquisition is in line with its strategy of becoming a regional beverage provider and holding leading positions within beverages in the Nordic and Baltic countries.”

Etablissements Geyer Fréres holds an off-trade market share in France of around 33%. However, its presence within on-trade and convenience sectors is limited.

The acquisition will give Royal Unibrew increased access to the French soft drinks market and also strengthen its export portfolio. The acquisition is in line with its strategy of becoming a regional beverage provider and holding leading positions within beverages in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

Royal Unibrew signed an agreement to carry out negotiations to acquire the French company earlier this month.

Royal Unibrew produces, markets, sells and distributes beer, cider, malt beverages and soft drinks to Denmark, Finland, Italy, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

The company also offers licence-based international brands of the PepsiCo and Heineken Groups.
