Authentic Black

California-based winery Gnarly Head has unveiled an array of dark red blends for this year’s autumn season.

The new line of products includes new addition 1924 Double Black which is a limited release.

The prohibition-style dark red blend, 1924 Double Black pays homage to the family’s first vineyard plantings in 1924.

The fruit-driven profile of the product is expected to appeal to the wine enthusiasts.

Additionally, the brand’s Authentic Black, which was launched as a limited seasonal offering in 2014, will be made available throughout this year.

Delicato Family Vineyards president and CEO Chris Indelicato said: "As the popularity of red blends continues to proliferate in the US market, so too does consumer demand for richer, more lush wines with concentrated, darker fruit profiles.

"Just as we’ve seen this darker, bigger style take off in the Pinot Noir segment, dark red blends are now fuelling the growth of the red blend category.

"The signature big and bold style of Gnarly Head wines is a natural launch pad for expanding our dark red blend offerings with 1924 and Authentic Black."

The company said that domestic red blends have become most sought-after wines in the market because of the subtle taste apart from the nominal price range.

According to Nielsen’s January 2015 report, the domestic red-blend category amounts to $900m in retail sales annually and is one of the fastest-growing wine sales categories in the country.
