Drinks giant Beam is set to build its new distribution centre on a 92 acre site in Franklin County, Kentucky.

Covering 600,000ft², the facility will be the largest in Franklin County, claims the company.

Located at 1509 US Highway 421, Leestown Road, the new centre will serve Beam’s portfolio of distilled spirit brands and will stock the company’s finished case goods bottled in Frankfort.

Construction of the new centre is expected to being in late February 2014 and end by the end of 2014.

Beam has appointed H&M Construction as the contractor to design the building, develop the site and build the facility.

The centre is set to open in the first quarter of 2015 and will be operated by a third-party logistics provider.

The new distribution centre is expected to add 60 new jobs to the region.

Franklin County Governor Steve Beshear said as Beam continues to grow for the future, the people of Kentucky benefit by the creation of more jobs and opportunities for years to come.

Beam global manufacturing vice president David Hunter said with two-thirds of Beam’s total spirits case volume being produced in Kentucky, having their new Beam long-term distribution facility in close proximity to their production will help them gain increased efficiencies in their supply chain.
