US-based Michter’s Distillery is set to release Celebration Sour Mash Whiskey in the market in December, after three years.

To produce the Michter’s Celebration release, the company selected whiskies from six barrels.

Michter’s master distiller Dan McKee said: “Working on my first Celebration release was a labour of love for me. Ultimately, I chose to make whiskey from two Kentucky straight bourbon barrels and four Kentucky straight rye barrels in our stocks.

“Each Celebration release is special and unique and this year’s release differs from 2016 one, where the whiskey came from three bourbon barrels and three rye barrels.”

The company noted that its team focused on finding the perfect barrels for Michter’s Celebration.

The 2019 Edition of Michter’s Celebration can be purchased for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $5,000 in the US and has 57.8% alcohol by volume (ABV).

The Michter’s Celebration is a limited edition variant, with only 277 bottles to be released by the company in the global market.

Michter’s master of maturation Andrea Wilson said: “It’s not just a question of finding this great barrel and putting it with that great barrel.

“It’s a matter of selecting fantastic barrels that go together so well that the whole will be greater than the sum of the parts. The whiskeys in the 2019 release range in age from over a decade to over 30 years old.”

In 2013, the distillery released its Michter’s Celebration Sour Mash Whiskey in the US market.

The company’s portfolio includes bourbon, rye and American whiskey.
