Italian coffee roasting company illycaffè has expanded its aluminium capsules range with the addition of Decaffeinato (decaffeinated) espresso, compatible with Nespresso Original coffee machines.

With less than 0.1% caffeine, illycaffè’s Decaffeinato espresso provides a smooth and mild profile to its consumers.

The company added that it’s decaffeinated roast coffee capsules offer a balance between acidity and bitterness, with delicate notes of caramel, chocolate and toasted bread.

The decaffeinated range has been produced using nine Arabica varieties and will be part of the other intensities in the portfolio, including Classico, which is available in espresso and espresso lungo.

Other two intensities include Intenso espresso, which offers a full-bodied taste, and Forte espresso, said to be rich and strong.

The company noted that all its capsule varieties are now available at select retailers, as well as through company’s online store illy e-shop for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $8.99 per pack of ten capsules.

In September 2017, illycaffè launched a single-serve espresso and a coffee machine, Y3.2, designed by Piero Lissoni; Y3.2 is an easy-to-use machine that can produce espresso and filtered coffee.

Developed for the illycaffè Iperespresso capsule system, the Y3.2 features a water tank with a 25.4oz capacity, as well as a power save function that is automatically activated when the machine is not in use.

Illycaffè Iperespresso technology was designed and developed by the illycaffè research and innovation labs in Trieste, Italy.
