Beam Suntory’s Cruzan Rum has expanded its flavoured rum portfolio with the addition of a limited-edition Cruzan Watermelon Rum.

Crafted by master distiller Gary Nelthropp, the new flavour has been produced with natural ingredients such as cane molasses and tropical rainwater using a five-column distillation process.

It contains the sweetness of a freshly cut watermelon and balances that flavour with the hint of a slightly tart watermelon rind.

Nelthropp said: “We are excited to release Cruzan Watermelon Rum, as this new expression demonstrates our dedication to producing high quality and innovative flavoured rums.

“This new expression truly captures the spirit of summer and the Island of St Croix for all to enjoy at their next gathering.”

The flavoured rum will join the company’s portfolio, which includes Cruzan Single Barrel, Estate Diamond Aged Dark Rum, Hurricane Proof Aged Light Rum, Black Strap Rum, Aged Dark Rum and Aged Light Rum.

The portfolio also includes 16 rums infused with natural flavours, such as peach, coconut, key lime and blueberry lemonade.

Cruzan Watermelon Rum is now available across the US for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $11.99 per 750ml bottle.

The company further added that Watermelon Rum can be mixed with fruit juices and iced tea.

Additionally, $1 from every case sold will go to Cruzan’s Island Spirit Fund, which has been developed to provide relief following 2017’s devastating Hurricanes Maria and Irma.
