Craft brewery BrewDog has revealed plans to develop a craft beer hotel.

To be called The DogHouse, the hotel development follows the brewery’s recent property acquisition in Ellon, Scotland. The firm plans to expand its Ellon brewery to include a 300hl Brewhouse with a canning and packaging hall.

Expected to be in operation by next year, the 26-room hotel will feature beer taps in the rooms, a built-in shower beer fridge and rooms that overlook the brewery.

“The idea of opening a beer hotel has always been high on our agenda, and now we are finally able to realise that dream, right here at our HQ.”

The new project will be built on a 3.25-acre site adjacent to its current one million hl brewery, which was purchased from screw jack manufacturer Power Jacks.

BrewDog co-founder James Watt said: “The DogHouse is our gift to passionate craft beer fans making the pilgrimage to our brewery in Aberdeenshire. The idea of opening a beer hotel has always been high on our agenda, and now we are finally able to realise that dream, right here at our HQ.

“This will be the ultimate destination for craft beer fans seeking hops with their holidays. This is a beer Nirvana.”

Funding for the proposed hotel and brewery expansion is sourced from BrewDog’s Equity for Punks crowdfunding initiative.

Scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, the new brewery follows the company’s sour beer brewing facility The Overworks, which was opened last month.

BrewDog was founded in 2007 by Martin and James Watt and has nearly 1,000 employees operating over 46 bars.
