UK-based supermarket retailer Asda has introduced Nosecco, a new no-alcohol sparkling wine at its stores.

Nosecco wine offers fruity flavours combined with white flowers and white grapes.

The launch is reported to be in response to the increasing demand for low and no-alcohol wines across the country. The market has grown 16% in value compared with last year, Nielsen Scantrack data showed.

Asda wine buyer April Rogers said: “Over recent months, we’ve seen a growing number of our customers turning to low or no alcohol options as lifestyle choices become even more important.

“The low and no alcohol market continues to see growth, with everything from sparkling, red and white wines, and beer increasing in popularity.

“With Nosecco launching in time for summer, we hope we can provide customers with a zesty, tasty tipple that means nobody is left out of toasts.”

The new Nosecco sparkling wine will be available for £2.98 and will join Asda’s other low and no-alcohol options, including the Be Free wine range, Budweiser Prohibition and Brewdog Nanny State.

The retailer further added that Nosecco is suitable for consumers living an alcohol-free lifestyle.

Headquartered in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Asda is a wholly-owned division of US-based retail chain Walmart.

According to the Office for National Statistics, May 2017, more than a quarter of 16-24 year olds stated that they do not drink alcohol.
