Alcohol manufacturer and distributor Amber Beverage Group (ABG) has announced the acquisition of agave fields in the Los Altos de Jalisco region of Mexico.

The move is expected to support the company in ensuring its control over its tequila production from field to bottle.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Amber Beverage Group CEO Seymour Ferreira said: “Having our own agave fields demonstrates our commitment to expanding our presence in Mexico and to growing our share of the global Tequila market overall.

“In five years, we will be able to supply our own brands with enough blue agave raw material to ensure the production of our tequilas and even broaden our services for private label projects such as American singer and songwriter Nick Jonas’ Villa One Tequila, which is only just starting to show its full potential.”

Covering 220ht of land area, the fields are filled with one to three-year-old agave plants, which will be used for supporting operations of tequila manufacturer Fabrica de Tequilas Finos (FTF) in Mexico.

Located at the foot of Tequila Hill, a town of Tequila, Mexico, FTF was established in the year 2000 and acquired Amber Beverage Group in 2016.

Its product portfolio includes brands such as KAH Tequila, Rooster Rojo tequila, Cenote, Don Camillo, Zapopan, AC/DC Thunderstruck and Villa One tequila. FTF claims that all its tequilas are crafted with 100% agave products.

FTF CEO Olegs Alainis said: “To meet the growing demand for our high-quality tequilas, we need to make sure we are well equipped, with hardworking jimadors, up-to-date technologies, experienced master blenders and distillers, and most importantly, the highest quality blue agave.

“Having all these key ingredients will help us to produce the finest tequilas there are.”

On 1 September this year, ABG announced the appointment of Craft Spirits Bulgaria as its distributor to expand the footprint of its vodka brand Moskovskaya in Bulgaria.

Moskovskaya will be available in two varieties of Osobaya and Pink in the Bulgarian market.

In July this year, ABG unveiled its plans to enter the ready-to-drink (RTD) category with the resumption of can filling at one of its production facilities.
