Alcoholic beverage manufacturers Budweiser and Jim Beam Bourbon have released a limited-edition beer, Budweiser Reserve Black Lager, in the US market.

With 7.1% alcohol by volume (ABV), Budweiser Reserve Black Lager has been aged in Jim Beam’s bourbon six-year barrel staves to create a bolder taste.

With a dark auburn colour, the black lager offers an oaky aroma and notes of coffee and chocolate, with a toasted malt taste.

Anheuser-Busch marketing core and value brands vice-president Ricardo Marques said: “Budweiser Reserve Copper Lager proved that when Budweiser and Jim Beam collaborate, good things happen.

“For the second collaboration between Bud and Beam, we wanted to brew something unique that would excite both beer lovers and bourbon aficionados. Budweiser Reserve Black Lager is a bold, bourbon-forward beer that’s perfect for the holidays.”

The black lager marks the second collaboration between the two companies, joining Budweiser Reserve Copper Lager.

Last April, the companies joined hands to create Budweiser Reserve Copper Lager, introduced in the US market for a limited time.

Additionally, the release also coincided with the 85th anniversary of the Repeal of Prohibition in the US last year.

Packaged in stubby glass bottles and a 22oz bomber bottle gift box, both brews will be available in the US market.

Budweiser Reserve Black Lager will be available for purchase from October to December, while Budweiser Reserve Copper Lager would be offered nationwide through March next year.

The Jim Beam portfolio of products includes Jim Beam Bourbon, Jim Beam Black, Jim Beam Double Oak and Jim Beam Devil’s Cut, among others.
