Flavoured beverages producer Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) has announced plans to acquire antioxidant infused beverages producer Bai Brands for $1.7bn.

The acquisition is expected to enable DPS to provide healthier beverages across its non-carbonated and carbonated beverage categories.

Following the acquisition, Bai Brands’ portfolio, including enhanced water, carbonated flavoured water, coconut water, and ready-to-drink teas will become part of DPS’ packaged beverages segment.

Both companies involved in the transaction are based in the US.

US-based multinational food and beverage company PepsiCo has announced its plans to acquire KeVita, a probiotic beverages producer also based in the US.

The acquisition is expected to expand PepsiCo's health and wellness product portfolio in the chilled beverage segment.
