Scottish craft beer producer BrewDog will be opening its North American headquarters and first production facility outside the UK in Canal Winchester, Ohio.

The brewery’s $30.4m investment at the Columbus Region facility would include the construction of 100,000ft2 facility in Canal Winchester that is scheduled to be completed by August next year.

This facility will be BrewDog’s primary brewing site for all its beer production in the US and would offer a restaurant, taproom and visitor center on-site.

Canal Winchester Mayor Michael Ebert said: "Since learning of the potential project a few weeks ago, Canal Winchester residents have become very excited about Brewdog.

"This project is not only a great manufacturing project for our community, but also will prove to be a major draw for tourism that will benefit the entire region."

The facility is expected to create around 115 new jobs.

With a 15 year support from the City of Canal Winchester, BrewDog will receive a 100% property tax exemption on the value of the building improvements and an incentive worth an estimated $2,700,000 over the 15 year term. The city will also waive off around $325,000 in utility capacity and building permit fees.

Recently, BrewDog had also announced that it is going to open five new bars in the US, a few of which will be in the West Coast, North East and Florida.

The brewery will initially produce more than 85,200 barrels in its first year of production that will be increased to 852,000 barrels in the future.
