Drinks giant Diageo is expanding its offerings in the UK, with the launch of Bulleit Rye whisky and re-launch of Bulleit Bourbon.

Available at 40% ABV, the UK version of Bulleit Bourbon will now be available at 45% ABV, which is in line with the brand’s strength offered in the US.

Bulleit Rye whisky, which is made with 95% rye, is also bottled at 45% ABV and is being launched in the UK for the first time, claims the company.

The rye whisky was first launched in the US in 2011.

Diageo Reserve Brands head Nick Temperley said that American whiskey is out-performing total spirits, with the bourbon category in particular showing strong growth in the UK.

"Both Bulleit and Bulleit Rye meet this growing consumer demand for premium US whiskey, while responding to a trend set by bartenders for rye-whiskey led cocktails," Temperley added.

"We are confident that both our on and off-trade customers will find both whiskeys exceptional additions to their American whiskey offering."

Bulleit Bourbon founder Tom Bulleit said that his family’s whisky-making legacy spans back to a time when opportunities in America were endless.

"Much of our continued growth can be attributed to those who have fallen in love with our brand and recommended it to their friends, family and colleagues. We look forward to introducing these new whiskeys to UK consumers," Bulleit added.

Both the brands will be available for purchase at select bars in the UK off-trade.

Bulleit Bourbon will be sold with a price tag of £27, while Bulleit Rye will be sold at recommended retail price of £32.50 per 700ml bottles.
