US-based cider provider Angry Orchard has collaborated with Eden Specialty Cider to introduce a new cider expression, called Understood in Motion 01.

Understood in Motion 01 is the result of the first American collaboration by Angry Orchard. The plans for more Understood in Motion ciders are underway for next year.

The cider was unveiled on 4 November in New York City. It will be available to purchase at the Angry Orchard in Walden, New York from 18 November.

"One of our main goals is to raise awareness of the cider industry in the Unites States."

Angry Orchard head cider maker Ryan Burk said: "One of our main goals is to raise awareness of the cider industry in the Unites States, and this is a goal our friends at Eden share. Their cider makers make some of the world's best ice ciders and I've always admired their approach.

"With this collaboration, we were able to combine our techniques to create something completely new and, in the process, help push American cider forward."

Eden manufactures ice ciders, which are sweet and made from Vermont heirloom apples.

The flagship product of Angry Orchard, Angry Orchard Crisp Apple is prepared from bittersweet and culinary apples from Europe. The cider is claimed to be a perfect balance between sweet and dry.

Understood in Motion 01 is a semi-dry and drinkable-still, similar to wine.

Eden Specialty Cider founder and chief executive officer Eleanor Leger said: "At its root, this collaboration was inspired by apples and the cider makers who care about them.

"It was an honor to come together with Angry Orchard, a leader within the cider community, to create something completely new that was true to both of our techniques."

Understood in Motion 01 will be a limited release and will be available in 750ml bottles for $25 per bottle.
