UK-based Scottish whisky maker Wemyss Malts has launched Batch Strength, its limited edition of three new blended malts.

The new range of whiskies is blended from casks of single malt whiskies from more than ten Scottish distilleries and only 6,000 bottles of each are available.

“Our Batch Strength range is intensely enjoyable neat, with ice and makes the perfect ingredient for quality, short whisky cocktails."

The limited edition series has been assigned the Batch number 001, which includes The Hive Batch Strength 001, Spice King Batch Strength 001 and Peat Chimney Batch Strength 001.

The Hive Batch Strength 001 has an alcohol by volume of 54.5%, Spice King Batch Strength 001 of 56,0% and Peat Chimney Batch Strength 001 of 57.0%.

Each malt is non chill-filtered and delivers 'intensified aromas, mouth feel and flavours' due to the enhanced strength of alcohol by volume.

Wemyss Malts founder and managing director William Wemyss said: “Our new Batch Strength blended malts consist of just 6,000 bottles each, providing the whisky enthusiast and adventurous consumer with more variety in their choice of blended malts.

“Our Batch Strength range is intensely enjoyable neat, with ice and makes the perfect ingredient for quality, short whisky cocktails such as the Old Fashioned or Rob Roy.”

The Batch 001 is currently available at select retailers in the UK, EU and key Asian markets with prices ranging from £45 to £50.

The firm stated that future batches will be bottled in varying quantities due to the amount of casks, volume of liquid and the final alcohol strength of each blended batch.
