UK wine and spirit merchant Berry Bros & Rudd has announced its plans to bring the distribution of its spirits in-house from July this year.

This move by the wine merchant would put an end to the arrangements it had with Maxxium UK since 2006 and with Mangrove since two years ago, reported thedrinksbusiness.com.

Berry Bros & Rudd’s portfolio includes single malt The Glenrothes, and No.3 London Dry Gin.

“Relationships with both Maxium and Mangrove have been excellent, providing a strong platform for our spirits brands.”

The company has reported growth as a result of its partnership with Maxxium UK.

Mangrove also played a key role in the introduction of Berry Bros & Rudd’s The King’s Ginger liqueur and Pink Pigeon spiced rum to new consumers in the country.

Berry Bros & Rudd expects that its decision of bringing distribution in-house will enable it to further develop its own range of spirits as well as promote its products across the country.

Berry Bros & Rudd CEO Dan Jago was quoted by offlicencenews.co.uk saying: "The relationships with both Maxium and Mangrove have been excellent, providing a strong platform for our spirits brands, and for this we are grateful.

"The time is now right, however, for us to build our own on and off-trade UK distribution capabilities in spirits as well as wine as part of our long-term plans."
