Stevens Point Brewery, a Wisconsin-based craft brewer, has rolled out its St Benedict’s Winter Ale in new 12oz can package.

The deep reddish-brown coloured dark and hearty winter brew is brewed with highly kilned dark-roasted malts, two-row dark chocolate malt, two-row pale malt, special beer yeast and noble hops for a rich and malty flavour.

According to Stevens Point Brewery brewmaster Gabe Hopkins, the flavour of the beer resembles that of German-style bock beers.

St. Benedict’s Winter Ale is now available in 12-pack cans at retail stores from 1 November 2013 till January 2014.

The new 12-pack can package is produced on the recently installed can packer line.

Stevens Point Brewery operating partner Joe Martino said the new packaging line greatly increases their capabilities, so introducing this new can package for St. Benedict’s Winter Ale, which continues to grow in popularity, was an easy decision for them to make.

"Craft beer lovers have accepted aluminium can packages with open arms, and St. Benedict’s Winter Ale is now in on the action," Martino added.

According to Craftcans.com, as of November 2013, around 365 craft brewers in the US package nearly 1,300 beers in cans, which are recyclable, unbreakable and lightweight.

Martino said, "We already offer our spring, summer and fall seasonal craft beers – Point Three Kings Ale, Point Nude Beach Summer Wheat and Point Oktoberfest – in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans, so it makes sense to include our winter seasonal in our can package mix."
