Liqueur

Aberdeenshire-based Glenglassaugh Distillery has launched a new drink – Sloe Berry Liqueur – for the upcoming festive season.

The Sloe Berry Liqueur is a mix of blackthorn fruit and Glenglassuagh’s Spirit drink that is less than 3yo, which possesses fresh fruit flavors and long-lasting richness.

Glenglassaugh’s liqueur can be consumed directly or can be used as a base for cocktails such as Kir Royale Cocktail and Mulled Wine.

Kir Royale Cocktail is a traditional and classic cocktail that contains one part Glenglassaugh Sloe Berry Liqueur and five parts of Champagne or sparkling wine.

Mulled Wine, on the other hand, is a blend of red wine, Demerara sugar, cinnamon stick, grated nutmeg, orange, bay leaf and Glenglassuagh Sloe Berry Liqueur.

Glenglassaugh Distillery managing director Stuart Nickerson said the new Sloe Berry Liqueur is made from their popular spirit drinks and hence appeals to more palates.

"Sloe Berry Liqueur is a fantastic drink for this time of year because it can be used in so many cocktails," Nickerson added.

"Our own particular favourite is Kir Royale, which traditionally uses Crème de Cassis, but the Sloe Berry Liqueur gives it an extra fruitiness. We have also discovered that it is wonderful served warm in a traditional mulled wine as it gives a fantastic richness and depth."

The Glenglassuagh Sloe Berry Liqueur can be purchased from the distillery’s online retail shop and from select whiskey retailers at recommended retail price of £19 per 500ml bottle.
