The GlenDronach Distillery, a UK-based Scottish whisky distillery owned by BenRiach Distillery, has unveiled the eighth batch of cask strength single malt whisky.

Selected by master blender Billy Walker, the eighth batch contains eight expressions and was filled in May 2013.

All the eight expressions, ranging from 42-10yo, possesses fruity characteristics and notes of eucalyptus, plums, damsons, sweet chocolate, almonds and even toffee-drenched raisins and red chilli.

The eight expressions are 44.6% ABV, 42yo 1971 Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon stored in cask no. 1246; 50.8% ABV, 22yo 1990 Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon stored in cask no. 2971; 49.8% ABV, 21yo 1991 Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon stored in cask no. 5409; and 58.1% ABV, 1992 21yo Oloroso Sherry Butt stored in cask no.145.

The range also includes 52.9% ABV, 1993 20yo Oloroso Sherry Butt stored in cask no.3; 58.4% ABV, 1994 19yo Oloroso Sherry Butt stored in cask no.101, 53.1% ABV, 1996 17yo Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon stored in cask no.1490; and 55.6% ABV 2002 10yo Pedro Ximenez Sherry Puncheon stored in cask no. 1988.

The 10yo expression from cask 1988 offers white pepper and cinnamon flavours on the nose, and treacle-covered ripe autumn fruits, fresh mint and toasted nuts flavours on the palate.

Batch 8 from the distillery follows the recent roll out of Batch 2 of the GlenDronach cask strength expression on 2 May 2013.
