Premium drinks giant Diageo has added – Cabin Fever Maple Flavored Whiskey – to its portfolio of premium whiskey brands, after registering 40% growth in flavored whiskey category in the US.

Cabin Fever Maple Flavored Whiskey is the latest addition to Diageo’s Catalyst Division, which focuses mainly on high potential brands.

Originally launched as family business by Robillard Family, the 80 proof Cabin Fever Maple Flavored Whiskey is made with real maple syrup.

Diageo catalyst division president Steve Rust said the Robillard family has created a unique American whiskey and they look forward to continuing the growth of this unique brand.

"Cabin Fever delivers on the consumer demand for flavored, artisanal brands that are driving whisky growth in the US," Rust added.

"We are confident in the brand and our continued relationship with the Robillard family."

Robillard Family will continue to support the brand through national roll outs.

Cabin Fever Maple Flavored Whiskey founder Rob Robillard said building Cabin Fever has been a labor of love for their family.

"We have had enormous support from the community and look forward to working with Diageo to bring our unique brand to the rest of the country," Robillard said.

"In addition to the impressive Diageo marketing organization that Cabin Fever will be joining, it’s great to be associated with a company that is clearly committed to responsible drinking."

Cabin Fever Maple Flavored Whiskey is currently available in select markets at a suggested average retail price of $19.99 for a 750ml bottle.

Diageo will make the Cabin Fever Maple Flavored Whiskey available throughout the nation by fall 2012.

Diageo’s portfolio of brands include Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, J&B, Windsor, Buchanan’s and Bushmills whiskies, Smirnoff, Ciroc and Ketel One vodkas, Baileys, Captain Morgan, Jose Cuervo, Tanqueray and Guinness.
