Avery Dennison Label and Packaging Materials, a global provider of labelling and packaging materials, and solutions for beverage industry, has introduced new Aqua Stick portfolio designed for easily applying labels to sparkling wine and champagne bottles.

The pressure-sensitive labelling solution Aqua Stick features Z3338 emulsion adhesive that easily sticks the label to the bottle and prevents surface condensation.

The adhesive absorbs any surface moisture present, removing the need to bring bottles up to room temperature, and allows in-line processing at up to 600 bottles per minute, with consistent label positioning.

According to the company, Z3338 has the capability to withstand exposure to an ice bucket or cold box and keep the label firmly in position.

The Aqua Stick solution also works when the bottle is cooler than the surroundings.

Avery Dennison global wine and spirits segment director Fabien Bourgies said developed in collaboration with wine and sparkling wine brand owners, the portfolio takes account of real-world conditions faced by adhesives and facestocks into consideration.

"With Aqua Stick, we are seeing scrap reductions and faster changeovers, with unique improvements to operational performance for these types of applications," Bourgies added.

At present, three facestocks including Fasson 60# Uncoated Litho WS, MaxFlex Bright Silver and Sparkling Asti are available for Europe in the new Aqua Stick range.
