PepsiCo has revealed plans to expand its Mountain Dew beverage portfolio in the US by adding a zero-sugar version of the soft drink.

Scheduled for launch on 13 January, the beverage, MTN DEW Zero Sugar, will be distributed across all retail outlets in the US market.

The beverage variant will offer the same flavour of the original MTN DEW without any sugar content, the company said.

MTN DEW Marketing vice-president Nicole Portwood said: “This is a big moment for DEW. We are excited to give customers a zero-sugar offering.

“Because our fans are uncompromising with the DEW they know and love, we knew we had to pull off a formulation that would preserve the great taste of the original. MTN DEW Zero Sugar delivers on a bold flavour and ever-evolving consumer preferences.”

The company claims that its variant is suitable for the consumer looking for less sugar in the beverage they consume.

It will be available in various packaging formats including 20oz bottles, 2l bottles, 12-packs of 12oz cans and a variety of other single and multipack sizes.

MTN DEW Zero Sugar will be joining beverages in the portfolio including the Original Mountain Dew and Diet Mountain Dew, Mtn Dew Ice, Mtn Dew Kickstart and Mountain Dew Code Red, as well as Mountain Dew Pitch Black, Mountain Dew Voltage, Mountain Dew White Out and Mtn Dew Label Series.

In March 2017, Mountain Dew launched Mtn Dew Label Series, a line of premium sodas from Dew with crafted unique flavours and herbal and citrus bitters.

The line includes citrus-flavoured Mtn Dew White Label and apple-kiwi flavoured Mtn Dew Green Label, created following the success of Mtn Dew Black Label in 2016.
