Wines of Substance founder Charles Smith has launched POPUP sparkling wine in the US market.

The expression has been created by drawing inspirations from sparkling wine regions of the world.

Smith said: “With POPUP, the goal was to make a delicious sparkling wine that was especially fresh, accessible and easy to drink.

“With a pop-off bottle cap top, contemporary label and affordable price point, POPUP is an unpretentious take on one of the world’s most celebrated traditions, a wine with bubbles.”

Featuring pop-off bottle cap and a colourful pop-art inspired label, the sparkling wine variant is Smith’s first wine product with full-colour label.

Additionally, the launch of the expression coincides with Smith’s 20th anniversary in the wine industry.

Smith said: “Thinking about where I was in my life and career 20 years ago, I have nothing but gratitude. Making delicious wines that people want to drink is something I will aspire to do for the rest of my life and I look forward to what the next two decades hold in store.”

From November, POPUP will be available at retailers across the US for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $14.99.

The variant will be added to Charles Smith’s Wines of Substance portfolio, which includes K Vintners, SIXTO and ViNO CasaSmith, as well as Substance and B Leighton.

Established in the late 1990s, Charles Smith’s Wines of Substance expanded to Seattle with the opening of the urban winery, Jet City, on the West Coast in 2015.
