Keurig Dr Pepper’s portfolio company Vernors is set to release limited-edition cans featuring eight more Michigan lighthouses.

Created in 1866 by Detroit pharmacist James Vernor, the brand is one of the oldest ginger sodas available in the US market.

For the third year, the company has partnered with Pure Michigan, an organisation that promotes travel and tourism for the state. The collaboration will work to highlight famous lighthouses on cans.

Keurig Dr Pepper market development manager Beth Hensen said: “Vernors is a Michigan original with a proud 153-year heritage and a devoted following in the state, unlike any other soft drink. We want to celebrate what makes this state such a special place to both live and visit.

“Through this promotion, we hope our fans will enjoy these keepsakes and be inspired to visit and take pride in these one-of-a-kind coastal treasures.”

The lighthouses that will be showcased on the can this year include Big Red (Holland), South Haven, Tri-Centennial State Park Light (Detroit), Au Sable Point (Grand Marais), DeTour Reef (DeTour Village), Port Austin Reef (Port Austin), Harbor Beach and Pointe Aux Barques (Port Hope).

Vernors and Diet Vernors featuring lighthouse cans will be available for purchase in 12-packs at retailers throughout Michigan from late July to this September.

Travel Michigan vice-president Dave Lorenz said: “We’re delighted to be partnering once again with Vernors to feature our state’s historic and picturesque lighthouses.

“This is an opportunity to celebrate these iconic landmarks – along with events like the Michigan Lighthouse Festival – and inspire residents and travellers alike to explore the more than 120 lighthouses standing along our 3,200 miles of Great Lakes shoreline.”
