Bellfield Brewery has become one of the first companies in the UK to adopt voice controlled devices using artificial intelligence (AI) to drive sales.

The Edinburg-based brewery will utilise Amazon’s voice-controlled digital assistant to allow consumers to find local stockists of beer and order online.

“Amazon’s voice-controlled digital assistant [will] allow consumers to find local stockists of beer and order online.”

Developed by the team at Bellfield, consumers can also ask the AI platform to provide information about the brewery and its products.

Bellfield Brewery director Marie Brown said: “This isn’t just a gimmick. Research indicates that AI-powered shopping is growing fast; three in four households in the US are predicted to have smart speakers in their homes in the next three years.

“Ordering food and drink through voice controlled devices, will become as common as popping round to the corner shop is now.”

Brown further explained that research indicates nearly one in four millennials would try voice-controlled ordering, and around 10% have already used it.

Established in 2016, Bellfield Brewery is claimed to be the first company in the UK to produce beers that are vegan and gluten-free.
