The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Government has issued two new rules for regulating milk and dairy products and monitoring juice and beverages.

Resolution numbers 29 and 30 were issued by the UAE President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Regulation number 29 specifies that suppliers shall only deal with registered and licensed companies or enterprises.

“Images and phrases used on packaging should not contradict public morals and Islamic values.”

They are also required to obtain a Certificate of Conformity for products before introducing them into the market, in accordance with the Emirates Conformity Assessment System (ECAS).

In addition, It will be mandatory for the products to obtain the Emirates Quality Mark and ensure that the products continue to comply with applicable rules.

Resolution number 30 specifies that juice and beverage products must meet approved standards and that product information on labels must match regulatory guidelines.

The resolution also affirmed that the images and phrases used on packaging should not contradict public morals and Islamic values.

According to the new instructions, companies must ensure that food is packaged in suitable containers that maintain food safety and protect from deterioration.

The decision also bans all UAE outlets from the sale or promotion of any product not registered with ECAS.
