Tyrconnell has released a limited-edition, single malt Irish whiskey expression called Tyrconnell 16-Year-Old Oloroso & Moscatel Cask Finish.

This limited-edition variant is claimed to be one of Tyrconnell’s oldest and most unique cask-finished expressions to date. The beverage is produced at Tyrconnell’s Cooley Distillery, which is part of the Kilbeggan Distilling Company owned by Beam Suntory.

Kilbeggan Distilling Company global Irish whiskey ambassador John Cashman said: “We are thrilled to release The Tyrconnell 16-Year-Old Oloroso & Moscatel Cask Finish, as the elegant expression demonstrates our commitment to innovation and quality.

“Building on the success of our award-winning 2017 and 2018 Tyrconnell limited-releases, we continued to experiment with different ageing techniques and we’re intrigued by these distinctively seasoned Spanish casks.”

With 46% alcohol-by-volume (ABV), the Irish whiskey expression has been aged in American White Oak ex-bourbon barrels prior to an additional maturation in wine casks from the Andalucia region of Southern Spain.

Featuring Irish barley, yeast and pure Irish spring water, the variant has been produced in traditional pot stills using a double distillation process to retain rich and natural flavours.

Available globally in six countries, the beverage will be released to select US markets in June with a suggested retail price of $100.00 (750ml).

With this release, Tyrconnell has expanded its portfolio, which includes Tyrconnell, Tyrconnell 15-Year-Old Madeira Cask Finish Limited-Edition and ten-year-old cask-finished expressions Madeira Cask, Sherry Cask and Port Cask.
