Macallan has unveiled single malt whisky Macallan Estate, which is made from barley from the brand’s Easter Elchies estate.

Macallan whisky maker Sarah Burgess said: “Our Easter Elchies estate lies within the legendary Speyside region of Scotland, a place of timeless natural beauty, and a place that we are proud to call home.

“With its wonderful sweet citrus hints and warming wood spice, Macallan Estate is a rich, satisfying and complex spirit that pays homage to the fertile Speyside lands where Macallan is located and celebrates the unrivalled craftsmanship for which we have been known since 1824.”

Created to celebrate the brand’s provenance and heritage, Macallan Estate whisky contains 43% alcohol-by-volume (ABV). It pairs scents of wood spice and orange oil with a sweet citrus taste.

To be released in the UK, the whisky is packaged in a gift box featuring landscape-inspired designs. The inside of the box features aerial photography of the Easter Elchies estate’s barley fields.

Macallan Estate can be purchased beginning July this year for £195.

In December 2016, Edrington Global Travel Retail launched a limited-edition expression of Macallan Rare Cask Black in collaboration with US photographer Steven Klein.

This edition of the sherry cask-matured whisky is presented in a box showcasing Steven Klein’s photographs, and includes WinterSmiths’ Ice Baller Double (a device that creates spherical ice cubes).
