UK-based Thatchers Cider has expanded its portfolio with the launch of Rosé Cider.

The new offering is a Somerset Cider that is produced using a blend of Pink Lady, Fuji and Gala dessert apples.

Thatchers Cider’s managing director Martin Thatcher said: “Thatchers Rosé is a new and exciting sweet rosé cider that gives consumers just what they’re asking for; a great tasting, characterful, sweet, low alcohol-by-volume (ABV) cider that is made to a consistently high quality by the cidermakers at Thatchers.

“Rosé continues to demonstrate our total commitment to high-quality apple cider and cidermaking expertise. As with all our ciders, apple choice is hugely important to us, so we’ve selected red dessert apples, including Pink Lady, Fuji and Gala for their sweetness, aroma and quality.”

“It meets the needs of today’s cider consumer through taste, quality, provenance and sustainable packaging.”

With 4% ABV, Thatchers Rosé will initially be available in a 4x440ml can pack. A 500ml flint bottle is planned for release next month.

Packaged in the Thatchers recyclable cardboard carry-pack, the 440ml Rosé Cider cans will be initially available at select Sainsbury’s stores across the UK for a recommended retail price (RRP) of £5.50.

Martin further added: “With the market moving on, now is definitely the right time to introduce this new cider. It comes with our longstanding Somerset family cidermaking heritage, but meets the needs of today’s cider consumer through taste, quality, provenance and sustainable packaging.

“While new product development in the cider category has been largely focused around fruit ciders, Thatchers has been pioneering innovation within the apple sector where there is still so much room for growth.”

In September, Thatcher’s Cider announced a manufacturing capacity expansion to meet rising demand for its canned apple cider, which is said to have registered a significant increase.
