Kirin Brewery’s subsidiary Spring Valley Brewery (SVB) and Portland-based craft brewery Widmer Brothers Brewing have launched the new Sudachi Ace Gose, a beer brewed with lactic acid.

Available in small batches at Spring Valley Brewery Tokyo, China, the new beverage is a traditional Germanic Gose-style beer that is brewed with lactic acid. Gose-style beers are produced using different blends of fruit and spices.

Sudachi Ace Gose is produced using sudachi and kabosu, two types of Japanese citrus fruit that are combined with coriander seed. It also features a light salty flavour from shio-koji, a Japanese seasoning made with salt and malted rice.

The collaboration between SVB and Widmir Brothers Brewing began at this year’s Fuji to Hood beer festival in Portland, US.

At the event, teams of Japanese and Portland breweries presented small batches of collaboration beer.

SVB’s parent company Kirin Brewery is involved in a wide-range of activities to enhance beer’s appeal. Its Spring Valley Brewery works with beer enthusiasts to craft new flavours.

Established in 1984, Widmer Brothers Brewing is an award-winning brewery best known for its flagship Hefe, which is also a traditional German-style beer that is brewed using malted wheat.
