Rosa Foods, producers of meal replacement drink Soylent, has signed a distribution agreement with US retailer Walmart.

Under the deal, three of Soylent drinks, including cacao, vanilla latte and coffiest, will be available at all Walmart stores across the US.

Soylent CEO Bryan Crowley said: “Our expansion to retail and now with Walmart is a great opportunity for Soylent to continue our focus on making unhealthy and unsustainable food voids obsolete for consumers everywhere.

“Our team is excited to see Soylent on local Walmart shelves, marking a significant step in providing more ways for consumers to get access to our brand.”

Soylent Sales vice-president Melody Conner said: “By working with Walmart, Soylent has the unique opportunity to build our presence offline with a leading force in the grocery sector.

“Our expansion with Walmart is a great opportunity for Soylent to continue our focus on making unhealthy and unsustainable food voids obsolete for consumers everywhere.”

“We are committed to making our offline experience as robust as our thriving online business and Walmart marks a significant step in bringing our product to new consumers across the country.”

In February this year, Rosa foods expanded Soylent’s footprint in New York by partnering with Big Geyser, the largest independent non-alcoholic beverage distributor in the metropolitan New York area.

Rosa Foods also launched Soylent products at more than 2,500 7-Eleven locations in the US.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Soylent’s product portfolio includes powder and 14oz ready-to-drink bottles available in original, cacao, cafe coffiest, cafe vanilla and cafe chai flavours.
