Sovereign Brands has launched McQueen and the Violet Fog, a new handcrafted gin with 21 botanicals.

The firm claims that at least six of the botanicals are not used in any other gin. The spirit’s flavour profile is achieved with the use of a traditional copper pot still and due to combination of two methods into one distillation process.

Initially, 15 botanicals are soaked in a neutral sugarcane spirit to draw out the flavour compounds and essential oils. Once this process is done, six signature botanicals are then added into the gin through vapour method through a copper basket.

Distilled at Jundiaí municipality of Brazil, each batch of the gin is limited to 500l only.

Among the botanicals infused in making McQueen and the Violet Fog gin include Indian basil leaves, acai in Brazil, Mediterranean fennel seed, Portuguese rosemary, ansd star anise sourced from Vietnam.

“With McQueen and the Violet Fog, we’re proud to unveil what we see as the next generation of gin.”

The drink’s name is taken from a poem with the same name, and the gin’s bottle carries the poem’s final two stanzas.

It is packaged in a glass bottle, which features embossed details and a ‘crowned eye’ logo in metallic copper.

Sovereign Brands CEO Brett Berish said: “With McQueen and the Violet Fog, we’re proud to unveil what we see as the next generation of gin.

“Instead of focusing on just one or two flavours, we chose to be ambitious. McQueen and the Violet Fog reveals something new with every sip: heat, spice, juniper, herbal, citrus and floral notes, all the touchstones of gin, balanced perfectly. We’re proud and excited to share this wonderful gin with the world.”

McQueen and the Violet Fog will be launched in bars, clubs, restaurants and retail across the world.
