Diageo’s brand Smirnoff has expanded its portfolio with the addition of new ginger and lime flavoured vodka, Smirnoff Moscow Mule.

The new variant was created to celebrate the brand’s invention of the original Moscow Mule cocktail in 1941 and will be available for a limited time period. The product offers a flavour combination that reflects the original recipe.

Smirnoff and Diageo North America vice-president Jay Sethi said: “With the introduction of Smirnoff Moscow Mule, our goal is to give people an easy, ready-to-mix option to create Moscow Mule cocktails at home that is also fun and flavourful.

“Our goal is to give people an easy, ready-to-mix option to create Moscow Mule cocktails at home.”

“As the original vodka of the Moscow Mule, we pride ourselves on our cocktail heritage and on being the first to mix up this cocktail in 1941. Now, more than 75 years later, we’re excited to announce a new flavour dedicated to this popular drink.”

The new ready-to-mix Smirnoff Moscow Mule variant is easily made into a cocktail by adding ginger ale.

With 30% alcohol-by-volume (ABV), Smirnoff Moscow Mule will be available through September in select retailers across the US for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $14.99 per 750ml bottle. It is also available in 50ml bottles.

Smirnoff Moscow Mule will be part of Smirnoff’s existing vodka line-up, which includes Smirnoff Peppermint Twist and Smirnoff Red, White and Berry.

Diageo’s brands include Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, Bulleit and Buchanan’s whiskies; Smirnoff, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas; and Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray and Guinness.
