UK-based Sharp’s Brewery has unveiled Offshore, the rebrand of its Cornish Pilsner.

Offshore has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 4.8%, which is lower than the previous pilsner, and will be available in 330ml cans across the UK.

Brewed with a pale pilsner malt to create a refreshing flavour and a herbal lemon aroma, the new beer offers a blend of crisp tropical fruit flavours and a citrus finish.

Sharp’s Brewery senior brand manager James Nicholls said:  “Offshore is the result of our ongoing product development and innovation pipeline here in Rock.

“Cornish Pilsner was popular amongst Sharp’s drinkers so we wanted to retain the much-loved taste but refresh the brand to bring it in line with the rest of the Sharp’s family.

“This re-launched pilsner is continually recipe-matched and taste-matched using the same ingredients to ensure we provide the same great flavour profile and consistency.”

Sharp’s Brewery beer sommelier Ed Hughes said:  “This pilsner matches perfectly with light fish dishes, such as lemon butter plaice, which is complemented by Offshore’s crisp, citrus fruit taste notes.

“The beer is the perfect refreshment with lunch on a warm day, or as a sundowner at the end of a day by the sea.

“Pilsners are set to be a huge trend in the beer industry in 2018. The US continues to lead the way on the global stage, and we’re seeing a lot of experimentation with both pilsners and lagers.”

Sharp’s Brewery current Cornish Pilsner will be replaced by Offshore in the on-trade from April 2018.

Its portfolio of beers also includes Doom Bar, Atlantic, Juniper Rising.
