US-based beer wholesaler Quality Beverage has announced plans to acquire beverage distribution company Williams Distributing for an undisclosed sum.

As per the terms of the agreement, Quality Beverage intends to acquire a distribution facility in Chicopee, as well as all distribution rights of Williams in Western Massachusetts, US.

Quality Beverage president and CEO Conrad Wetterau said: “Quality Beverage’s corporate strategy remains focused on increasing operational efficiencies, maintaining market share and aligning with trusted partners who share our work ethic within contiguous territories.

“We are very excited about this acquisition and growing our business in Western Massachusetts and look forward to building on the strong foundation of service created by Williams Distributing and the Sadowsky family.”

The deal is expected to be completed in October this year, subject to supplier approval.

Upon completion of the deal, Quality Beverage would become the single largest beer distributor in Massachusetts, as well as the leading supplier of Anheuser-Busch InBev brand products.

Established in 1950 by William Sadowsky, Williams has been distributing Anheuser-Busch InBev beer products and other brands such as Constellation and Yuengling. It also distributes beer products of local craft brands including Harpoon and Wormtown.

Williams Distributing president Scott Sadowsky said: “We are extremely proud of the business we have built and the customer and community relationships that we have developed over the past three generations.

“This was a difficult decision but one we think is best as the beverage distribution business continues to evolve and change. We have known and respected Quality Beverage and the Wetterau family for years.”
