Canadian start-up DoseBiome has expanded the US portfolio of its functional drink brand qii by adding three new flavours.

The new flavour line-up of White Peach, Pomegranate and Lychee Tea will join existing qii flavours Lemongrass Ginger and Oolong Tea.

DoseBiome claims that its qii products are non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, as well as low-glycemic, and have the potential to reduce nearly 52% of dental plaque with each serving.

qii founder Ted Jin said: “The oral microbiome is an emerging area of research centred around the relationship between beneficial and harmful bacteria. Our team is comprised of PhDs from the fields of microbiology, food science and dentistry who are dedicated to finding innovative ways to improve oral health.

“By understanding harmful bacteria and how they form plaque, we have effectively found ways to reduce both, leading to the development of qii.”

Created by the team at DoseBiome in the US, qii is said to have been produced with organic tea and XyVita, a non-GMO xylitol-containing formulation that works by reducing acidity and the risk of tooth decay.

Consumers can purchase 4-pack 8oz cans of the new qii flavours from amazon for $9.99.

qii first entered into the US market in January this year with the launch of its oral care Lemongrass Ginger and Oolong Tea drinks.
