Puration is planning to launch cannabis-infused beverage in Canada in July next year.

The firm is one of two cannabis sector companies that are currently controlled by American Cannabis Innovations (ACI) Conglomerated.

The launch will be in conjunction with the nationwide legalisation of recreational marijuana.

The Canadian spirits market is worth C$5bn ($3.9bn) and Deloitte estimates that the legal marijuana market in the country could reach C$8bn ($6.2bn).

Puration CEO Brian Shibley said: “I originally became a Puration shareholder when I purchased distribution rights for Canada.

“I am a Canadian citizen and with my experience and contacts in Canada, I became interested some time ago in distributing Puration products in the country. One thing has led to another and Puration has evolved. My interest in Puration has since grown, and so I have become the CEO.

“With the pending nationwide legalisation of recreational marijuana in Canada, combined with Puration’s experience in cannabis extractions and making cannabis-infused beverages, I am even more enthusiastic today about distributing Puration products in Canada then when I originally came to the company.”

Puration currently owns a patented process for extracting cannabinoids (CBD) from the cannabis plant, which it uses to produce and market CBD-infused sports water.
