Pernod Ricard USA has launched the third edition of The Glenlivet Winchester Collection, a series of rare 50-year-old single malt Scotch whiskies.

The launch of Glenlivet Winchester Collection Vintage 1967 follows the release of the Vintage 1966 edition in 2016 and the Vintage 1964 variant in 2014. The latest whisky is a blend of single malts from several rare oak casks. The youngest of the casks was laid down in 1967.

The company has released 150 bottles of Glenlivet Winchester Collection Vintage 1967 worldwide and each bottle will be sold for $25,000.

“This rare release pays homage to The Glenlivet’s accomplished Master Distiller, Alan Winchester.”

Pernod Ricard USA Glenlivet marketing vice-president Sona Bajaria said: “The Glenlivet Winchester Collection Vintage 1967 is a unique expression that allows the current generation to peek into the rich past of The Glenlivet.

“This rare release pays homage to The Glenlivet’s accomplished Master Distiller, Alan Winchester, and to the valued heritage of the brand.”

The company partnered with British designer Bethan Gray to create the maple and copper-coloured case and hand-blown glass bottle.

Bethan Gray said: “Everything I do is about collaborating with people to tell stories through craft, so it was a real honour to work with Alan Winchester to create this incredibly special bottle of Scotch whisky.

“We’re both inspired by spending time in nature, so what better inspiration than the Cairngorms, where The Glenlivet distillery is based?”

Laura Lung, Single Malts Portfolio Marketing Manager Pernod Ricard Global Travel Retail said: “We are incredibly excited about all three whiskies on offer, with this prestigious trio laying claim to 50 years of unrivalled knowledge, unwavering care and unfaltering craft. DFS Group is one of the most luxurious travel retailers in the world, and with the Masters of Wine and Spirits being one of the most prestigious events of its kind – we couldn’t think of a more fitting occasion to launch the Glenlivet Winchester Collection.”
