UK-based fruit crisp manufacturer Nim’s has forayed into the beverage segment by releasing a range of tea infusions.

According to the company, the new tea infusions can be both eaten as a snack and consumed as tea.

Nim’s founder Nimisha Raja said: “With our core products doing very well, we decided to look at other ways we could use air dried fruit and veg, and our R&D team came up with the idea of fruit and vegetable teas.

“We completed some initial market research and ‘tastings’ proved very successful. The appetite was definitely there for these products.

“There is an appetite for healthier, yet adventurous drink choices and these certainly meet that criteria and more.”

“We are on course for our best ever year, with our crisps now available in the Co-op, through online specialist Ocado and in more than 1,400 Tesco stores.”

Made from dried fruit and vegetables, the edible tea range offers an alternative to caffeinated or herbal teas.

Available in 12-packs of 12g sachets, the loose tea infusions are available in beetroot and parsnip; pineapple and kiwi; and pineapple, beetroot and parsnip variants.

The company also released a range of air-dried slices, which can be used in hot and cold drinks.

Raja added: “The infusions rehydrate in liquid, adding natural flavour to drinks. There is an appetite for healthier, yet adventurous drink choices and these certainly meet that criteria and more.”

Nim’s claims that all its products are made with a single ingredient and free from fat, gluten and dairy.
