Canadian craft brewer Unibroue is set to launch flavoured seasonal ale Éphémère Sureau (Elderberry) in the US market.

The new drink will be offered for a limited time period in 12oz six packs and Sommelier Selection variety packs at retailers across the country.

The Belgian-style fruit wheat ale has been brewed using a balanced blend of elderberry fruit and flowers. Its deep purplish-blue colour and flavour is said to resemble blueberries and blackberries.

Unibroue's master brewer Jerry Vietz said: "This is the first time we're using both the fruit and flower in making a Éphémère beer.

"The elderberry flower's aroma is a perfect complement to the fruit's rich, delicious flavour."

Éphémère Elderberry ale features a slightly cloudy and reddish colour with purplish hues, topped by a creamy pink head.

Unibroue beer sommelier Sylvain Bouchard said: "Éphémère Elderberry's explosion of berry flavours and subtle floral notes make for a wide variety of pairings.

"This delicious beer goes very well with pork loin, grilled chicken, as well as fish and seafood dishes, and adds a refreshing touch to rosette sausages. It also pairs well with goat, Brie and Camembert cheeses."
