California-based Straus Family Creamery has entered the dairy beverage segment with the launch of its organic chocolate milk.

The new flavoured milk beverage is claimed to be produced using homogenised whole milk, cane sugar, Fair Trade Certified organic cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and lactase enzyme.

The drink does not feature any stabilisers or emulsifiers, and has been created with minimal processing.

The chocolate milk is said to contain 16g of protein and has 38% less sugar content.

Straus Family Creamery founder and CEO Albert Straus said: “The high-quality flavour of our milk starts at the organic family farms, with sustainable land stewardship and good animal welfare practices.

"In 1994, when we first offered organic milk in glass bottles, I knew that I wanted to create products consistent with the values we apply to our organic farming practices.

"The chocolate milk is said to contain 16g of protein and has 38% less sugar content."

“All of Straus Family Creamery’s products, including the chocolate milk, retain the quality of the milk sourced daily from the nine family-operated organic dairy farms working with us in Marin and Sonoma Counties in Northern California.”

The new drink will be retailed for a suggested retail price (SRP) $3.99 for of the 32oz bottle.

The product will initially be available in Northern California.
