Diageo Canada, the parent company of Smirnoff Ice brand, has recalled the brand’s alcoholic beverages due to a possible glass contamination.

The voluntary recall affects only 330ml glass bottles of the Smirnoff Ice products in select four-pack, 12-pack and individual bottle packages.

The products that have been recalled are Smirnoff Ice, Smirnoff Ice Light, Peach Bellini, Green Apple, Raspberry, Cranberry & Lime and Watermelon Mimosa, which are available in four-pack.

Additionally, Premium Mixed Drinks Variety Pack in 12-pack as well as individual 330ml bottles of Smirnoff Ice has also been banned from consumption by the company.

The voluntary recall was issued after the ongoing quality assurance process at the company detected quality issues with some bottles causing small glass fragments to break off and fall inside.

The affected bottles were supplied by a third-party glass manufacturer for its production in Canada.

On discovering the issue, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) was notified by the company.

The company is currently working to arrange for all potentially impacted bottles to be removed from retail.

The company is also working with the glass supplier to resolve their production issue.

The company has not received any reports from consumers relating to the impacted bottles.
